Ford Mustang engine

Classic ford Mustang belonging in the first generation models use various power trains. 1965 models come with a standard 170 cid six cylinder and a pair of V8's. Its good looks are matched by the "K-code" 271bhp 289 cid V8. The Shelby GT-350 comes with the 289 V8 306bhp for street use and the specially made 360bhp GT-350R for race use. The restyled 1967 version has increased engine compartment. The new GT350 is powered by a 428 V8 and the more powerful racing engine, the 427 V8. For 1969, several engines are used together with the coming of new level trims.

 

Engines used for base models are the 200 I6 115bhp, 250 I6 155bhp and 02 V8 220bhp. For Boss 302; 302 V8 290bhp @ 5800 rpm, 290 lb-ft @ 4300 rpm and 351 V8 250bhp are used. The powerful Cobra models have 428 V8 335bhp @ 5200 rpm and 440 lb-ft @ 3400 rpm. Boss 429 comes with 429 V8 375bhp @ 5200 rpm and 450 lb-ft @ 3400 rpm.

 

1971 Mustang increased in dimension however engine choices decrease including Boss 302 and Boss 429 models. The performance of the 351 engine was decreased from 300bhp to 285bhp while the 429 Cobra Jet dropped 5bhp to 370bhp. The standard engine for the Mach 1 was the 351 Cleveland V8 with 285bhp. Also available is the 330bhp version. The 429 Cobra Jet showed off the 429 Super Cobra Jet Ram Air with 370bhp. It produces 11.3:1 compression and 375bhp although it is 1/4 mile times slower than the Boss 351. The Boss 351 is equipped with a race bred 351 engine, radical solid-lifter cam, 11.0:1 compression, ram-air induction and Hurst four-speed transmission.
