The astounding sale of Ford Mustang's first production in 1969 shook the whole
car market to its very end. In its first two days, it sold over 22,000 units.
After the first four months, 100.000 Mustangs were sold, 418.000 for the first
year and 1.000.000 units after two years. However in 2003, sales dropped in April
due to the war in Iraq and weakened economy.
To get over the drop in sales the company decided to give incentives to lure
buyers and dealers. Earlier in April 2003, Ford extended the -a-day leases for
Ford Mustang sports car and Ford Ranger midsize pickup trucks through June 16.
Since Ford launched the -a-day lease on March 31, Mustang sales have grown to
465 cars per day until April 25 from a dropping sale of 93 cars a day.
