Ford Mustang Cobra R
After ten years of non production, Ford created the SVT Cobra to revive the heritage
of BOSS and Shelby Mustangs. However in 2000, its production stopped and was replaced
with Cobra R with only 300 units produced. It possessed the modified features
and components of SVT although it does not have any radio and air-conditioning.
Exterior modifications are front dam with brake cooling and a huge rear wing.
Under the hood, properly installed is the heavy-duty 5.4-liter, dual overhead
cam Ford V-8 engine.
As the car growled to life, the engine started to produce a powerful 400 hp at
5700 rpm. The suspension is equipped with added Eibach coils which lowered the
car to about 1.5 inches in front, and an inch at the rear. Also giving support
are mono tubes in front, twin tubes in the rear and stiffer bushings in the suspension
control arms and rear sub frame. Smooth out downshifts by heeling and toeing is
provided by the wide spacing of the pedals. Amazing body control and responsive
steering pave way to an impressive balance in handling the car.
