2005 Ford Mustang is available in two body styles, the coupe and convertible with ten varied trims to choose from. The standard 100A coupe is equipped with a standard 4.6-liter, V8, 260-horsepower engine that achieves 18-mpg for city use and 26-mpg for highway use. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims and optional is a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
 
GT comes with a 4.6L 90-degree V-8 engine with aluminum block and heads that can produce up to 300 @ 6,000 rpm of horsepower and 315 lb-ft @ 4,500 rpm of torque. Power train and chassis features include multi-layer steel, cylinder head gasket, hypereutectic aluminum pistons, high-thread-insert spark plugs and dual knock sensors. V-6 is equipped with a 4.0L 60-degree V-6 engine with iron block and aluminum heads rated at 202hp @ 5,250 rpm and 235 lb-ft @ 3,500 rpm. Features for power train and chassis are 65 mm single-bore electronic throttle body, multi-layer steel cylinder head gasket, forged steel connecting rods and hypereutectic aluminum pistons.
